BSM is involved in the education and promotion of classical Indian and Western music. It has regular classes to teach all the instruments of the orchestra except the drums and has a chamber orchestra and childrens choir. It organises over 15 public concerts each year, and the biennial East West Music and Dance Encounter, which brings together artistes from different parts of the world.
