BMST is a joint initiative of the Rotary Club of Bangalore and the TTK group. It is active in the area of voluntary blood donation and runs the Arun Kumar Transfusion Centre that provides day care services to children with thalassemia, haemophilia and other haematological disorders. It conducts STD/HIV/AIDS awareness programmes in schools, colleges, slums and industries, and trains teachers and social workers in HIV/AIDS, sexuality, and life skills. It has developed a handbook for teachers, and a workbook for students from pre-school to Std 10. It also provides counselling and testing for AIDS/STDs.
