The NCTE Bangalore is responsible for regulating the quality of teacher education in the southern states. It is in charge of accreditation for all institutions that provide teacher training, from pre-primary teacher training up to the M Ed level, including maintaining checks on the standard of training and infrastructure. It also organises workshops and seminars on issues related to teacher education, including curriculum development and human rights. It provides in-service training for the Teacher Training Institutes. It undertakes research in teacher education, and has published several manuals, books and monographs on related issues, for example, `Nurturing creativity in children'.
