BACISS has 21,000 literacy centres in 554 urban slums reaching over 2 lakh non-literate children and adults. It has developed a literacy primer with supplementary guide books in Kannada, Tamil and Urdu. It also plans to works towards the universalisation of education through a primary education project in collaboration with UNICEF and the Department of Labour*. The project will identify non-school going children, especially working children between 6-14 years, and provide educational inputs that will enable them to be mainstreamed. It also works in integrated community development.
