Agastya International Foundation works in the area of teacher education. It conducts skill-building workshops and training programmes for teachers in urban and rural schools, using creative and learner-centred activities. The focus of the workshops is on creating 'classrooms without walls', where teachers and students interact through experiments and hands-on experience, and where the process of learning is as important as the result. Hands-on and collaborative learning, simulation games, lectures, and case studies are used to make the teaching methodology more creative and interactive. The Foundation also plans to set up a school for teacher education. This will be a residential centre with a school attached, and will include an exposure to both urban and rural systems of education.
