Akshayam is an educational consultancy service. It has been working in pre-school education for over 30 years, including early infant stimulation, and the integration of children who are challenged. From 1985-1990, Akshayam developed the Cognitive Oriented Programme for Pre-school Children (COPPC) for the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, under the aegis of the Aga Khan Foundation. COPPC focused on providing cognitive stimulation for pre-school children, and training for balsevikas. Akshayam has undertaken research-oriented activities in early childhood education (ECE). It has developed innovative teaching methodology, and is involved in the design and development of creative, low-cost learning materials. It has also worked with adolescents, and in counselling. It offers consultancy, including workshops and training courses for primary and high school teachers, special educators and administrators.
