Bala Mano Vikasa Kendra, run by the Association for Pre-school Education, has a school for children with mental retardation. The school fosters the development of motor, language and number skills, activities of daily living, health and hygiene, pre-vocational skills, yoga and physical exercise. Children participate in cultural and sports programmes at state, national and international levels. The centre offers speech therapy and physiotherapy. It also helps parents with home and health management, and information on how to avail of government schemes for the disabled.
