Ms Vanitha Rao is a pre-school teacher and special educator. She runs Sunshine Nursery, an integrated pre-school for autistic and normal children between 2 1/2-4 1/2 years. She has worked with children with special needs between 0-16 years. Her focus has been on infant stimulation programmes which provide training in child care for parents of special children below the age of two. She has co-authored two research papers on infant stimulation. She holds therapy sessions for autistic and learning disabled children in the afternoons, and is exploring the use of multimedia programmes as a teaching aid for special children. She has attended workshops on art and music therapy, and her areas of interest include early intervention for autistic children, and play therapy with emotionally disturbed children.
