Ashoka invests in exceptional individuals and their ideas and helps them achieve large-scale social impact. Since 1981, Ashoka has supported more than 1200 social entrepreneurs in 41 countries. Ashoka helps the work of social entrepreneurs by providing a three-year stipend and by electing them into Ashoka's global Fellowship, a global network of leading entrepreneurs. Ashoka fellows work in diverse fields such as gender rights, human rights, environmental protection, health and education. Ashoka's Innovative Learning Initiative distils best practices in learning throughout the world. ILI fosters communication and collaboration among fellows across the world. It identifies principles and strategies upon which the work of Ashoka fellows is based, and shares them with groups working directly with children.
