Bubbles, run by Sarbani Mallick, has an early intervention programme for autistic children between the ages of 2 to 8. The focus is on self-help and development of cognitive skills and language to help integrate the children into the mainstream. Special classes are also held thrice a week for children of 4 to 8 years. They learn to follow group instructions and work on classroom behaviour through role-play. Once a week Bubbles conducts classes in social skill training. Children are taught the basics of social behaviour and learn through imitation. Activities include turn-taking, how to behave during circle time, listening to CDs, recitation etc. Bubbles has a wide range of play material, books and CDs. Sarbani has also developed teaching aids to help with matching and sorting exercises.
